Holiday Affair on the Square is a hometown celebration of the beginning of the holiday season. With free horse drawn carriage rides through the district & free hot chocolate, this is an event for all ages & is sure to get you in the spirit. The event offers Middletown’s Arts & Cultural organizations a chance to preview their holiday show on the stage at Governor’s Square Park. The Art Central Foundation has, for the past four years, decorated the City’s Holiday tree as well as the Governor’s Square Park where the event is held and this is Middletown's official Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Holiday Affair on the Square has traditionally served as the opening of the GOT ART! exhibits, but this year will premiere a traveling show, Homeless: Telling Our Own Stories. Artwork included in this exhibit is meant to ask the viewer to explore homelessness through the eyes of the individuals for which it is a reality. We at the Art Central Foundation hope this exhibit will illuminate some of the dark corners of the condition of the homeless and can help our community begin a constructive dialogue about a very real issue.
